Park Güell, Barcelona

This has became another unfinished work for Antonio Gaudí, being originally planed to have an area of 20 hectares including inside wich would have built publics buildings, more natural parks and residencial blocks.
It was "Don Eusebio Güell" a banker of the time the person who bought all the land on the hill called "Muntanya pelada" and he wanted to reconstruct the whole area and then sell plots individually, but this mighty project finally was reduced to the park´s actual size.

Park Güell, Barcelona
The park took 14 years to finish (1900 - 1914).
Gaudí began the complicated topographic work for the plan for streets but the inclination of the mountain turned out to be more problematic than he originally thought.
But this inmese constructed area has unique geniallity points all over it. The most important is the main entrance´s starways divided into two sections and then divided again into new sections as if they were normal city streets. On top of the first cross road the impressive doric style temple (this was the place the market was originally planed to be at) with 85 colums.
The whole area covers half of the Greek teatre square right above. The Greek square has an ondulant ceramic bench wich circles the whole place (done by one of his collaborate).
